St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church
Petaluma, California
Pastor's Desk
This weekend we welcome Fr. Sean Rogers to St. Vincent"s. According to Deacon Mario, Fr. Sean arrived here this past Monday morning at 3:30 a.m.! Whereas it normally has taken me two weeks to unpack and get settled, Fr. Sean was unpacked and ready in about an hour and a half on Monday morning. He has been spend-ing this week getting oriented to the parish, a process that will take some time. He and I are concelebrating all the masses so that everyone who has stuck around this July 4th weekend will get the chance to meet him. My friends from Ukiah speak highly of him and I am delighted that he is here.
I hope all of you are enjoying this July 4th weekend. Although our country is going through an economically rough time right now, we are blessed to be living in a great part of the world and in a country where we have long experienced the freedoms that many in the world still long for. As we celebrate our birth as a nation, my prayer is that as Catholics we will be effective in contributing our values and vision of life to the culture of which we are a part. Prayers go too for safe journeys for those who are traveling this weekend.
