WE ARE A EUCHARIST CENTERED PEOPLE WHO, AS THE BODY OF CHRIST, LIVE OUR FAITH IN WORD AND DEED BY SHARING OUR TIME, TALENT, AND TREASURE TO SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER AND SERVE THOSE IN NEED.
Fr. Sean left last Sunday night for a vacation and will return on Feb. 21st, the night before Ash Wednesday. While he's gone, Fr. Zomo from St. James will be taking the daily masses on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Fr. Steve Canny is helping out this weekend and the weekend of the 18th-19th and Msgr. Joe Alzugaray will help out on the weekend of the 11th-12th.
This weekend I'm concluding the Offertory Renewal in the Hispanic community. We've had a very good response: new envelope users, new EFT users (including in the Hispanic community), and many who have increased their Sunday giving. For the Hispanic community using envelopes and EFT is radically different from the custom of church support in Mexico and other Latin countries. I am very grateful for the response from both our language communities. We are helping each other.
There is one more bit of financial work that I need to attend to: the Annual Ministry Appeal from the diocese. I had hoped to complete our own work before anything came out from the diocese, but I think everyone on our mailing list already got a mailer about the AMA. I will be sending out a letter, probably next week, about the AMA. I'm thinking of tying it to a maintenance project that we are planning for the fall. We are in the process of making plans to refinish our pews, install a new carpet, repaint the interior of the church, and refinish the hardwood floors underneath the pews. It's work that is needed to make the pews and carpet match the beauty of everything else we've done. I'll fill you in on more of the details next weekend.
